The festival was held at the church of Prophet Elias over the weekend in Protaras. A large crowd of people flocked to the church to worship and enjoy the view from above.
The Mayor of Paralimni-Derynia, Mr. George Nikolettos, also attended the festival.
The chapel of Prophet Elias is built on a steep rock in the Protaras area. It is a building from 1984, which was erected on the site of an older small church from the 14th century. The chapel is a landmark for the area, as many visitors climb the 156 steps of the rock daily to enjoy the panoramic view of the area and the sea of Protaras. During the night, the rock and the chapel are illuminated, offering a unique visual spectacle.
