Tourist arrivals at the beginning of this year's tourist season are slightly reduced compared to last year. The fact was admitted by Savvas Perdios himself during the presentation of the ten-year plan of actions of the Ministry of Tourism to the Council of Ministers last Wednesday.

The restrained optimism of the hoteliers before the start of the summer is now turning into a question of whether at least last year's record numbers will be restrained.

As stated by the President of PASYXE Famagusta, Doros Takkas, May moved quite well and compared to May last year was very close, while it is estimated that there was a deviation of 5%. There are concerns for June and the coming months.

Nevertheless, one of the biggest challenges that hoteliers have to face this year is the fullness of the new beds and the new hotel units that have been added.

The President of PASYXE Famagusta, Doros Takkas stated: "There is the issue of the ruble which is quite weak, there is the uncertainty in the English market, there is the issue of Airbnb and others that constitute this problem."

At the same time in the occupied territories the new so-called "Minister of Tourism" Unal Ustel stated that the goal of the pseudo-government is the 2 million tourists and the two billion dollars through incentives for illegal flights to and from Turkey but also to reduce the cost of electricity in hotels. .
