Pyrillis: "Paralimni marina marks the biggest development reception project"

The official presentation of the final design of the PARALIMNI MARINA project took place last night in the presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, the Speaker of Parliament, the Deputy Ministers of Tourism and other political officials and actors at the Hilton Cyprus Hotel.

The project is owned by PMV Maritime Holdings Ltd, in collaboration with J&P, Marina Projects and Nicolaides & Kountouris Metal company Ltd. The architect of the project is the British house Harper Downie Creative Architecture in collaboration with Kythreotis Architects and for the landscape design the house Calmins.

The Paralimni Marina will have 300 berths with all the necessary support services, reception area for boat owners and their crews, fuel, special boat equipment stores and exclusive police, customs and foreigners and immigration service. In terms of residential facilities, the design provides for 123 apartments and 3 villas as well as a beach park. Owners and the public will be able to enjoy services from shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.

The President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Anastasiadis stated that the Paralimni Marina is a tangible proof of the important developments in the tourism sector that is being implemented in recent years. He welcomed the fact that Marina Paralimniou is a project of a purely Cypriot investment initiative, emphasizing that the project is expected to bring both economic and social benefits to the local community and the wider region of Famagusta, both during the construction phase and after its completion. The Director of PMV Maritime Holdings Ltd Anthoulis Kountouris stated that the Marina is expected to be a reference point and to contribute in practice to the development of both maritime tourism and the tourism product offered by free Famagusta, attracting investors.

The Mayor of Paralimni, Mr. Theodoros Pyrillis, in his speech stated that Marina Paralimniou marks for Paralimni the largest and most important development infrastructure project, life project, with strong positive omens, for enrichment and modernization of the tourist product, both in the Municipality and in and in the province of Famagusta. He added that "the synergy of Paralimni Marina with Ayia Napa Marina will significantly contribute to the establishment of a single navigation zone, thus completing the strategic planning of maritime tourism on the east side of our island."

He warmly thanked the company Nikolaidis and Kountouris LTD and especially to Mr. Stavros Kountouris and his children Anthoulis and Antonis who, as he characteristically said, "shared their visions with ours" as well as the company of Ioannou and Paraskevaidis who undertook as contractors, such as also the consulting engineers Marina Projects, the Minister of Trade and Industry Mr. George Lakkotrypis as well as the Committee of Marinas for their contribution to the whole effort. Finally, he thanked the President of the Republic of Cyprus, where with his personal interventions and actions he contributed the most to the successful implementation of the project process.

This was followed by presentations concerning the construction structure and architectural composition of the project as well as the environmental study of the project. Paralimni Marina is expected to be a reference point and attraction in the region as a key project for both the Municipality of Paralimni and the province of Famagusta in general as it will contribute to the development of maritime tourism and generally the enrichment of the tourist product. In addition, it will attract investors and bring further economic development of the place.
