Three days before his birthday, the former Mayor of Paralimni, Theodoros Pyrillis, who would have turned 19 on June 61, unexpectedly passed away.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 4 pm at the Metropolitan Church of Saint George of Paralimni.

In a post, his best man, Andreas Pittatzis, wrote: ""Good evening, my best man. Good heavens. You taught us much and gave us even more. Every land is a grave of distinguished men."

In a statement, the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia states:

"The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia announces with deep sadness that today, Monday, June 16, 2025, the former Mayor of Paralimni, Theodoros Pyrillis, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 61.

At its meeting, the Municipal Council decided that the funeral of the deceased will be held at public expense and that a three-day mourning period will be declared starting today, Monday, June 16, 2025, during which all flags on municipal buildings will fly at half-mast.

Theodoros Pyrillis was an emblematic figure of the local government which he served for more than two decades with dedication and passion. Thanks to his dedication, hard work and tireless strength, he managed to claim development and progress not only for the Municipality of Paralimni but also for the entire Famagusta district for which he fought until the last moment. The void he leaves is irreplaceable. Paralimni and the Famagusta district will be grateful to him for his grand vision and his militancy to always claim a better future for his place.

The Mayor and the entire Municipal Council of Paralimni - Deryneia express their deepest sorrow to his family and loved ones.

Let the soil that covers it be light.

"May his memory be eternal."

Theodoros Pyrillis

Theodoros Pyrillis was born on June 19, 1964 in Paralimni. He studied at the Cyprus Higher Hotel Institute (AXIK) and then studied for a year in Germany. In 1989, he returned to Cyprus, where he began working as a Hotel Manager.

In 1993, he founded Bagno Designs, a company active in the sanitary ware sector. The company currently holds the largest market share in the Famagusta district and, since 1999, has expanded nationwide, making it one of the leading companies of its kind in the entire country.

He married Kikoula Kitsiou with whom he had a son, Anastasios.

He was active in local government from an early age. In the period 2003-2006 he served as a Municipal Councilor in the Municipality of Paralimni, succeeding the resigned Panagiotis Kyzas. From 2007 to 2011 he served as President of the Local Committee of the Democratic Rally (DISY) of Paralimni, while he was also a member of the Famagusta District Secretariat as well as the party's Political Bureau.

In the 2011 Municipal Elections, he was elected Mayor of Paralimni with the support of DISY and was re-elected in 2016.
