Minister of Labor and Deputy Minister of Tourism in Paralimni for working personnel (PICTURES)

On the afternoon of Tuesday, February 19, 2019, the Social Consultation was held at the City Hall of Paralimni, organized by the Democratic Alarm on the topic: "Lack of manpower - Brake on the development of the economy of Famagusta".

The speakers were the Minister of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance, Zeta Emilianidou, the Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios, the Director of the Department of Labor Alexandros Alexandrou, the Deputy Director of the Ministry of Tourism Thefos Thefos

The Mayors of Paralimni, Ayia Napa and Sotiras, the deputies of DISY Famagusta as well as representatives of the tourism industry who were present to the competent Ministers expressed the series of problems they face, especially regarding the lack of auxiliary workforce.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism expressed the need to modernize the strategy pursued in tourism both in terms of strategic promotion and in terms of hospitality. In turn, the Minister of Labor stated that the Ministry will proceed to a social dialogue on the issues of the right to work in the tourism sector regarding foreign students as well as political asylum seekers.

The representatives of the hotel and food industry expressed their concern over the lack of manpower in the province of Famagusta to staff the auxiliary professions, while the Mayor of Paralimni, Theodoros Pyrillis, pointed out that the competent State Department should address the which is a brake on the further economic development of free Famagusta.
