In an emotionally charged atmosphere, a beautiful musical encounter took place on Tuesday, July 1st at the Municipal Amphitheater of Deryneia with the Municipal Mandolin Choir of Paralimni and the Mixed Choir of Myrtountia Lechaina, Ilia, entitled "With a Hug... Songs".

The Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Mr. George Nikolettos, in his greeting, expressed his joy and emotion for the realization of this musical meeting, which was hosted under the auspices of the Municipality. He warmly congratulated the Municipal Mandolin Orchestra of Paralimni for its timeless contribution to the cultural events of the place, while he made special mention of the participation of the Mixed Choir of Myrtoundia from Lechenai, Ilia, expressing deep emotion, as, as he mentioned, the presence of the choir awakens memories of the barbaric Turkish invasion of 1974, after which Lechenai had lovingly hosted unaccompanied children, many of whom came from occupied communities in the province of Famagusta.

On behalf of the local community, the Mayor expressed sincere gratitude and admiration for the humanity and generosity of the residents of Ilia.

In closing, the Mayor warmly welcomed the Greek brothers, thanked them for their presence and the emotion they offered, and emphasized that events such as this one strengthen the bonds of Hellenism, unite memories with hope and keep our common culture alive.
