The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra presented on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the packed Xenion Amphitheatre in Paralimni, one of the most popular classical music works for children, “The Carnival of the Animals by French composer Camille Saint-Saens” with conductor Andreas Asiikkis.
The concert was held in collaboration with the Music Inspection Office of Secondary General Education of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (YPAN) and the hosting sponsor was the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia.
It was extremely important that the solo piano parts in the Carnival of the Animals were performed by young pianists from the Famagusta Music School. Specifically, the following participated from the Famagusta Music School: Solo Piano: Anastasia Christodoulou, Rate Karagiannis, Giorgos Misiis and Maria Panayi. Teachers: Dr. Nikolas Konstantinou and Maria Stylianou-Rousou. Violin: Chrysostomos Messiou, Giorgos Messiou and Andreas Anglogallou. Teacher: Viki Hatziandreou
The program was completed by two other, equally popular works: the elegant and dramatic first movement from Symphony No. 40 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the bright and energetic "Spring" from Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons.
The concert was dedicated to Kyprianos Papaioannou and a minute of silence was observed in memory of all the victims of Tempi.
