The 10-year-old girl, who is being treated at Makarios Hospital in Nicosia, is off ventilator and in an improved condition, after she was found unconscious on Saturday in a hotel pool in Protaras, where she was on holiday with her family.
According to Steve Theodoulou, press representative of the Famagusta Police Department, "around three o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, August 24, information was received from the Famagusta General Hospital to the Paralimni Police Station, that a minor girl, who had been pulled unconscious from a hotel pool in Protaras, was transferred ».
Members of the Paralimni Police Station "went to the Famagusta General Hospital, where they found that the little girl is about 10 years old from the United Kingdom and was staying at the hotel on vacation with her family. Due to the seriousness of her condition, the ten-year-old was intubated and transported by ambulance to the Makarios Hospital in Nicosia where she was kept for hospitalization."
According to Mr. Theodoulou, "the little girl came off the ventilator, she is awake and her condition, according to the treating doctors, has improved".
He also stated that "the Police continues to receive statements, among others, from people who were at the hotel pool and saw or perceived what happened to the little girl, from hotel staff as well as from medical staff of the Famagusta General Hospital, in order to ascertain the circumstances in which the 10-year-old was found unconscious in the hotel pool".
