Paralimni celebrates its patron saint and protector, Saint and Great Martyr George the Trophy Bearer, with all solemnity today.
On the afternoon of Easter Tuesday, vespers was celebrated at the Metropolitan Church of Saint George, presided over by the Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta, Mr. Vasiliou.
A crowd of believers of all ages flooded the church to watch the holy service. Also present were local authorities, the celebrating Mayor of Paralimni-Deryneia, Mr. George Nikolettos, members of parliament, representatives of the Army, the Police, and other bodies and organizations.
This was followed by the procession of the holy icon and the holy relic through the main streets of the city, during which the band of the catechetical meetings played.
