As part of the restructuring of the Social Welfare Services (SWS) of the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance (YEKA) and the broader Social Policy of the Municipality of Paralimni, the "Neighborhood Social Worker" Program has started its operation in the Municipality of Paralimni.
The vision of the program is to provide accessible, affordable, friendly and personalized social services for holistic support of the individual and the family, in a human-centered, interdisciplinary and effective way.
The main goal is to empower and secure the rights of vulnerable people in the population, to improve their standard of living and to develop them to their fullest potential. The Program is financed by YKE while the YKE Restructuring Project is co-financed by the European Social Fund of the EU.
The Social Worker of the Program undertakes, among other things, the timely identification of conditions for individuals, families and/or social groups who are suspected and/or information has been gathered that they are facing problems and in need of psychosocial support and acts as the first point of reference for the individuals, families and/or social groups in need of psychosocial support, while carrying out actions to raise awareness and activate citizens to deal with any social problems in their neighborhood or region that come to their attention.
