The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia informs that the Planning Permit has been issued for the construction of a monument dedicated to the heroic martyrs Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomos in Paralimni. At the same time, the necessary approval has been secured from the Monuments Committee for the two statues, which was required for the issuance of the Planning Permit. Subsequently, the Municipality's service will proceed with an application for the issuance of a Building Permit and a call for tenders for the construction of the monument in which the two statues of the heroes, sculpted by the sculptor Philippos Giapanis, will be placed.
For this purpose, the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia Mr. George Nikolettos held a meeting with the members of the two families, Tasos Isaac's mother, Tasoula and his daughter Anastasia Isaac as well as Mr. Angelos Kyriakou on behalf of the Solomos Solomos family. Also present at the meeting on behalf of the Isaac Solomos Memorial Initiative were Mr. Andreas Pettemeridis and the sculptor Philippos Giapanis.
The representatives of the families expressed their satisfaction with the positive development and the Municipality's decision to implement the monument, while the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia assured that the Municipality will stand by the two families throughout time and that the Municipality's purpose is for this monument to contribute to preserving the memory of the two hero-martyrs as well as to informing and raising awareness about the manner of their sacrifice and more broadly about the Cyprus problem.
