PASYXE Famagusta: To "green" for tourists and to open hotels for Cypriots

The Board of Directors of PASYXE Famagusta in a recent meeting examined the current situation in the Province of Famagusta as well as issues that concern and interest the hotel industry, in view of the upcoming summer season.

It is a common finding that much will depend primarily on the epidemic situation of Cyprus which is now in the red zone, as well as on the main markets, which is now the case with England and Russia and which is considered a deterrent to developments for a successful tourist year.

PASYXE Famagusta expresses the hope that the above situation will soon improve and that England and Russia will move to the green category, even if the conditions as they are today are difficult. This is because the British Government does not allow travel for holidays, at least until May 17, while the protocols it prepares provide that when the British return from their vacation they will be quarantined for 10 days unless the country they visit is green and that lifting such restrictive measures will improve conditions.

As for the Russian market, as reported by PASYXE Famagusta, it started timidly with scheduled flights once a week by a single travel agent, while the Russian government is expected soon to allow tourist trips to Cyprus and start flights. chartered flights so that the normal flow of tourists can begin.

The announcement also states that other markets such as Scandinavia, Poland, Ukraine, things are still murky as there are no indications of the start of organized trips to our country.

In its announcement, PASYXE Famagusta points out that the vaccination program should be continued and intensified with the ultimate goal of our country gaining the required immunity that will classify us in the green category and we will become a safe and attractive destination for our traditional markets and the new ones we aim to attract. It is now clear, as stated, that if we do not turn green on the map we should not expect tourism.

At the same time, as mentioned, the date should soon be given when the hotels will be able to receive the Cypriots and those who work in the front line of the tourism industry, hotels, restaurants, etc. will be vaccinated immediately.

Although this year is described as particularly difficult, the announcement closes, we are not disappointed and we believe that if we pay attention to our epidemiological picture and take the right actions, we may finally have a reduced flow of tourists to our country, but at the same time it becomes the first step for recovery in tourism.
