The Deputy Ministry of Tourism calls on travelers to purchase sunglasses instead of umbrellas in order to enjoy the Cypriot winter – Dozens of weekly flights from the United Kingdom during the winter season
The mild Cypriot winter and the still high temperatures prevailing on the island are at the heart of the efforts of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism to boost winter tourism.
An example is the new advertising campaign of the Deputy Ministry that is underway in the United Kingdom, with impressive images adorning the traditional double-decker buses in central London.

According to a post by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism on the Greek National News Agency, the campaign, which aims to promote winter tourism, has already received positive comments from our country's strategic partners. The photos that adorn the characteristic double-decker buses of London are accompanied by the slogan "CYPRUS WINTER. PACK SUNGLASSES, NOT UMBRELLAS", through which travelers are encouraged to purchase sunglasses and not umbrellas for the winter in Cyprus.
The effort to boost tourist flows from the United Kingdom and the winter season also occupied the contacts that Deputy Minister of Tourism, Costas Koumis, had earlier this month in the context of WTM, the international tourism exhibition in London.
As Mr. Koumis had stated, "what is now most important is to increase traffic during the winter season, as I believe that during the summer season we have now reached the absolute peak."
Moreover, in his relevant reports to CNA, he had said about his participation in the exhibition that "during our meetings with Cyprus' strategic partners, we placed particular emphasis on how winter tourism can develop in 2026." "The messages we received on this issue are optimistic, in the sense that at least the major tour operators are expected to increase, to a satisfactory extent, their winter programs to our country," he said, mentioning at the same time that the messages from the United Kingdom market, which is the largest for Cypriot tourism, are also positive for the coming summer.
The strengthening and development of winter tourism from the United Kingdom is also supported by the adequate connectivity of Cyprus with Britain during the winter season.
Weekly flights from the United Kingdom to the two airports in Cyprus are significantly reduced compared to the summer, but they still number a few dozen.
Specifically, flights from the United Kingdom to Larnaca amount to 52 per week in November, 43 per week in December, 33 in January, 34 in February and increase to 40 in March.
There are 60 weekly flights from the United Kingdom to Paphos in November, 32 in December, 26 in January, 30 in February and 54 in March.
