Serious delays that exceed six months of examining the application for the approval of urban planning permit, have been observed in the Famagusta Urban Planning lately, with the applicants being dissatisfied with the prevailing situation.
According to an article in the newspaper "Phileleftheros", during the financial crisis, the situation has worsened even more as already the applications before 2017 were stacked in the archives of the Department, due to the large hotel developments in the area.
In fact, the lack of staff is more than obvious as the service is now working, with 6 technicians out of the 15 it had, because in the meantime several retired who were not replaced by new hires or transfers from other services.
A competent source stated that the officials are called to handle the duties of a messenger as the Department does not have a messenger to support the receipt and finding of case files. According to the same source, an immediate effort is made to serve the citizens, often assisting in the completion of applications when they do not immediately meet the criteria.
