The "Isaac Solomon Memorial Initiative" declares itself present again this year, 26 years since the murders of the heroes Tassos Isaac and Solomon Solomon. With the wound of the Turkish occupation still open, it invites the people of Cyprus to an event of memory, resistance and dignity, at the Deryneia roadblock on Saturday 6 August 2022 at 20:00, a day that reminds everyone of Akanthou, Karavas, Lapithos and other villages occupied by the Turkish army in 1974.
The event will be preceded by the long march that will start from all the cities of free Cyprus and will end at the Deryneia roadblock on Saturday afternoon.
The purpose of the motorcyclists is to keep alive the memory of the sacrifice of Tasos and Solomon, to repeat the request for the extradition and arrest of their wanted murderers and to send everywhere the message of the liberation of Cyprus.
This year, as it marks 100 years since the Asia Minor Catastrophe, the trek will symbolically start from the recently unveiled "Memorial of Refugees of Asia Minor Hellenism", on Friday August 5.
Motorcyclists do not forget the enslaved homelands, Ionia, Smyrna and every corner of Hellenism. The Asia Minor Catastrophe, 52 years before the Turkish invasion, is a black day for Hellenism worldwide and the "Isaac-Solomos Memorial Initiative" is not going to forget it.
The refugees of Asia Minor are the refugees of Kyrenia. The dead of 1922 are the dead of 1974, the dead of 1996. Mikrasia, Kyrenia, Famagusta, call us again this year to the Deryneia roadblock.
