The opening ceremony of the qualifying phase of the CEV Beach Volley Nations Cup 2026, hosted and co-organized with the Cyprus Volleyball Federation by the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia, took place on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Fig Tree Bay beach in Protaras.
The games began on Saturday, May 9, 2026 and will conclude on Sunday, May 10, 2026, with the participation of the National Teams of Cyprus, Bulgaria, Israel and Poland. The event takes place at the Beach Volley Stadium on Fig Tree Bay, one of the most recognizable beach areas in Europe.
Greetings were delivered by the President of the Cyprus Volleyball Federation, Dr. Costas Constantinou, the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Mr. Giorgos Nikolettos, the Vice President of the Cyprus Volleyball Federation and President of the Beach Volley Committee, Mr. Fraglinos Andreou, as well as the Executive Director of the Cyprus Sports Organization, Mr. Vasos Koutsiountas.
In his greeting, the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia stated that hosting this event is of particular importance to the Municipality, as it is part of a broader effort to attract international sporting events to Protaras. He also referred to the European Open Sea Swimming Games, which were organized for the second year in April 2026, noting that Protaras and the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia in general are gradually establishing themselves as an important destination for international sporting events.
During the event, modern dances were presented by a dance group of students from Xylofagos High School, under the guidance of their teacher, Maria Tsivika, and the President of the Famagusta District Organizing Committee for School Games, Mrs. Amalia Kyriakou, as well as traditional dances from the Dance Workshop of the Frenaros Municipal District, under the teaching of Andreas Kyprianou.
