A training program for those employed in the fishing sector is being implemented by the Larnaca and Famagusta District Development Company Ltd.

A company announcement states that the comprehensive training program concerns holders of professional fishing licenses A and B for the reissue of the coastal vessel captain's certificate.

As noted, this is organized "within the framework of the implementation of the Local Development Strategy for the Fisheries Areas of the Larnaca - Famagusta Districts 2021-2027, which is funded by the "Union Priority 3. Promoting a Sustainable Blue Economy in Coastal, Island and Inland Areas and Promoting the Development of Fisheries and Aquaculture Communities" of the 2021-2027 Fisheries and Aquaculture Strategy".

It is added that "the general objective of the project is to offer the participating Fishermen of the Intervention Area of ​​the Local Fisheries Action Group (LFAG), specialized theoretical and practical knowledge, which will provide the opportunity for reissuance of the Coastal Skipper Certificate so that they can practice fishing tourism."

It is noted that the Training Program will be attended by a maximum of 24 trainees and a minimum of 10. The Local Fisheries Action Group (LFAG) for the Larnaca district is the Larnaca Municipal District and the Communities of Zygii/Mari/Xylotymvos/Xylofagos/Ormideia. For the Famagusta district, the Local Fisheries Action Group is the Municipal Districts of Paralimni, Ayia Napa and Liopetri.

The project is being implemented within the framework of the "Marine, Fisheries and Aquaculture 2021-2027" Program with co-financing from the European Union.

According to the announcement, "the training program will have a total duration of 32 educational hours, which will include two Thematic Units - Basic Safety Refresher (12 hours) and Medical First Aid (20 hours). The training will take place in Cyprus in March-April 2025, while in order to comply with the specific conditions, interested parties will have to submit the relevant certificates/evidence with their application."

Potential participants "can submit their participation in the training program by completing the participation application form by Friday, March 14, 2025 to the Development Company of Larnaca & Famagusta Districts LTD, at the postal address 2B Agios Lazaros, 7040, Voroklini, Larnaca, Cyprus or at the email address info@anetel.com. The necessary supporting documents must be submitted along with the participation form."
