The port police has been on foot for the last 24 hours, as both today and yesterday, two boats with Syrians were located trying to enter the Republic by sea.

In particular, 97 people from Syria were aboard a boat which was spotted at noon on Wednesday 14 nautical miles off Cape Greco.

An approach operation was set up, which was completed today at noon when everyone was transferred to the Pournara Accommodation Center.

Even before the completion of the first operation, the radars of the Port Police, signaled an alarm after the location of a second ship in which about 80 Syrians were aboard. 

Immediately, Coast Guard boats rushed to the spot for the necessary checks.

In fact, during the operation on Wednesday night, 13 women and 31 children disembarked until the completion of the inspections and for better protection, with the help of members of the Port Police at the fishing shelter of Agios Nikolaos in the area of ​​Pernera in Protaras where they stayed until morning. in a makeshift camp set up by members of the Civil Defense.
