The Famagusta District Court proceeded with the conviction of a police officer as he was found guilty of masturbating on a public beach, in front of a minor boy.
According to information from ThemaOnline, the Famagusta District Court sentenced the police officer to two years in prison on charges of child sexual abuse and obscenity.
It is noted that these offenses were committed in August 2017, on a beach in Protaras, when the accused police officer, who is from Nicosia, was 45 years old.
According to what was reported in the Court, the 45-year-old was noticed masturbating on the beach, in front of a 10-year-old boy, while two other minor children were present, who approached their parents and informed them about the incident.
The parents of the children, after finding out the heinous event, chased him, immobilized him and notified the Police.
Since then, the police officer has remained available, while initially he had pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
However, the court found the 45-year-old guilty after a hearing in which the parents of the children testified as the main prosecution witnesses.
In its decision, the Court accepted the testimonies of the parents of the young children, while on the contrary, it rejected in their entirety the allegations made by the accused in his own testimony.
