A problem with an electrical appliance caused a fire in a laundry room at a hotel in Protaras on Thursday afternoon.
In a post on Platform X, Andreas Kettis, Press Secretary of the Fire Service, reports that at 18:33 on Thursday, June 19, two staffed vehicles from the Famagusta fire station responded to extinguish a fire in the basement of a hotel in Protaras.
The fire broke out in a washing machine in the laundry room area and the fire was extinguished by staff before the Fire Department arrived, using a fire extinguisher and a water hose.
Members of the Fire Department proceeded with the final extinguishing of the fire, ventilation and inspection.
Investigations conducted determined that the cause of the fire was an electrical problem in an electrical appliance, according to Mr. Kettis.
