First in Technical Professions for Famagusta (VIDEO)

The technical professions have won the big bet, since as everything shows, the interest of students to study in the relevant fields is growing.

Although the Cypriot society remains largely biased against the technical professions and in favor of the "white collar" professions, this year the number of students of the High School who enrolled in the Technical Schools reaches 22%. A number that a few years ago seemed unattainable and a goal that was considered overly ambitious.

One of the reasons that made the choice of Technical education more attractive was the continuous success of the graduates of Secondary Technical and Vocational Education.

According to the data of the Ministry of Education:

  • The free area of Famagusta presents the highest percentage of interest for Secondary Technical and Vocational Education (MTEEK). It presents a percentage that exceeds 34%. (There are two Technical Schools: Paralimni, Avgorou).
  • In the District of Paphos the percentage exceeds 27%, with only one Technical School in Paphos. The offer of specialties at MTEEK at the Lyceum of Emba (promoted for implementation in September) creates new dynamics. The enrollment rate reached 38%.
  • Poli Chrysochous: There is a Lyceum and a Technical School. The percentage reached 40%.
  • Interest in the technical sectors in the provinces of Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca is slightly below average, but in recent years there has been a steady increase.
