A 3.000-year-old Phoenician temple was discovered in the village of Agios Theodoros in Karpasia, according to the Cyprus newspaper.

According to the article, the church was discovered south of the village yesterday during the excavations of the "antiquities department". The temple has been built with large stones and in it were found various objects such as perfume bottles, small water containers etc. The newspaper writes that this discovery opens a new page regarding the research on the Phoenician period in Cyprus.

He also notes that the church is located geographically close to the tourist area of ​​Vokolida and is expected to attract tourists. Archaeologist Hassan Tekel of the Famagusta Department of Antiquities said excavations began in the area in December 2017.
