Happy Resurrection from the students of Rizokarpasos

Forty Easter candles were prepared by the students of the occupied schools of Rizokarpaso for the needy children in the free areas.

Last Tuesday, the vice-president of the Pancyprian Coordinating Council for Volunteering, Elias Dimitriou, visited the occupied Rizokarpaso and his children handed over their candles with a request to give them to children who cannot buy their own candles for Easter.

"Indeed, the next day I visited families who receive help from the PSE", Mr. Dimitriou told "F" and added: "I had met a mother with her four children in the courtyard of the church in their area. You can not imagine the joy that the children did when they took the Easter candles prepared by the students from our occupied schools ".

This year, said the vice-president of the PSE, "with the 'Adopt a Family for Easter' campaign, we were able to achieve our goal relatively easily, which was to serve 1.000 families in need."

Fortunately, "people, both individually and at the corporate level, have offered generously and some families have already received their Easter packages."

It is very positive, he added, "that we find that the families who need our help have started to decrease compared to previous years". Previously, "around 2.500 families came to us for help all over Cyprus, now we have dropped to 1.000. We certainly should not consider that the financial crisis has left us and that we are all having a good time ".
