The death toll rose to nine on beaches in the occupied territories

The corpses washed up on beaches in occupied Gialousa and Rizokarpaso have risen to nine, according to newer media reports.

It is recalled that two bodies were found on Sunday, two on Monday morning, two around noon and two in the afternoon of the same day. It is believed that they belong to Syrian immigrants, who were in a boat off Cyprus, carrying 10 people.

Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci expressed his sorrow for the dead.

Mr Akinci also spoke of the importance of peace and stability in the region.

"The death of these people reminds us of the importance of peace and stability in our region. "Achieving peace and stability is the greatest duty of all of us, and of our community and of humanity as a whole," the Turkish Cypriot leader wrote in his post.
