Invited to the Sigma show "Front Page", the President of the Pancyprian Potato Producers Organization, Andreas Karyos, spoke about asimmering prevailing in potato growers. They ask for a dialogue with the Ministry of Agriculture and warn with dynamic events.
According to what he said, the position of this industry is very difficult due to the accuracy and the reduced production due to frosts.
"How many seasons will we plant and damage? "Consumers will buy them for 2 euros and then we will all see what it is like to support your own products", he said.
He added that the state had supported them in the past but even today they need his support. "The cost of potato cultivation due to the pandemic and the war in Ukraine."
Regarding the actions I took, Andreas Karyos stated that they sent their messages and expected that they would have started a dialogue with the competent Ministry, however, they did not receive any response. Andreas Karyos warned with dynamic events if the dialogue does not start.
