The Police attribute the fire that broke out early today in a cafeteria located in the EAC Settlement in Dhekelia to malicious action, from which the building suffered extensive damage inside.
According to Andreas Constantinou, Press Secretary of the Famagusta Police Department, "around 00.50 on Thursday, March 6, a fire broke out in a cafeteria-restaurant located in the EAC Settlement of Dhekelia, owned by a 48-year-old man."
He added that "the fire was extinguished by members of the Larnaca Fire Department and the British Bases of Dhekelia. The fire caused extensive damage to the interior of the premises."
He also stated that "investigations and examinations were carried out today by the Police, the Fire Department and the Electromechanical Service and it was determined that the fire was caused by malicious action. Evidence was received from the scene which will be sent for scientific examinations."
The case is being investigated by the Famagusta Police Department.
