Significant progress is being recorded in the speed of examining urban planning applications by the Famagusta District Local Government Organization.
Within just ten months of operation, from July 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025, the Service managed to significantly accelerate the evaluation of new applications, while at the same time dealing with applications that were pending before the establishment of the Organization with great efficiency and methodicality.

Ø Applications before 01/07/2024
24% of building & land applications were processed (186 out of 768)
45% of other types of applications were processed (49 out of 108)
A total of 26,8% of the 876 pending applications were processed.
Ø Applications after 01/07/2024:
57% of building & land applications were processed (100 out of 175)
83% of other types of applications were processed (367 out of 440)
A total of 75,9% of the 615 new applications were processed
Ø Total Service work (all applications):
Of the 1.491 applications, 702 have been processed (47,1%)
789 remain pending
This success is due to specific strategic interventions, such as the digitalization of the examination process, the introduction of teleworking, coordinated cooperation between the services involved and the systematic training of staff.
At the same time, the Famagusta Regional Development Authority is moving forward with initiatives aimed at continuously upgrading its operations.
A request has already been submitted to the Deputy Minister of Research and Digital Policy for the integration of artificial intelligence in the examination of applications, while a workshop is being prepared in collaboration with ETEK and scholars to jointly address challenges and formulate common solutions.
