The 2nd Children's Festival "Sotira FunDay Kids Festival" was held with great success on Saturday, June 6, 2026, organized by the Sotira Municipal District of the Municipality of Ayia Napa, in collaboration with the Parents and Guardians Associations of Sotira Primary Schools A, B and C, the Sotira Public and Community Kindergarten, the Sotira Community Educational Service and the "I Kivotos" Private Kindergarten.
The event, which took place in the courtyard of the Holy Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, was part of the events for Universal Children's Day and offered children and their families an afternoon full of creative activities, entertainment and quality experiences.
The festival began with a blessing ceremony, in the presence of the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, the Deputy Mayor of Sotira, Mr. Antonis Koumis, the Member of Parliament Litsa Drousioti, the Deputy Mayors of Liopetri and Avgorou, representatives of the Ayia Napa Municipality School Tax Authority and other dignitaries. A rich artistic program followed with the participation of the Vasilis Efstathiou & Maria Kofos Music School, the Children's Dance Club of the Sotira Municipal District, the Traditional Dance Workshop of the Sotira Catechetical Synagogues, the Vision Dance Studio Dance School, the Elite School of Dance and the Sotira Youth Center with the Zumba Kids program.
At the same time, children had the opportunity to participate for free in a multitude of activities, including crafts, face painting, glitter tattoos, virtual reality (VR), inflatables, climbing, bungee jumping, waterwalker, games, educational constructions and other entertainment activities.
In his greeting, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, congratulated the organizers for the initiative, emphasizing that supporting children and families is a long-standing priority of the Ayia Napa Municipality.
"Children are the most valuable asset of our society and it is the responsibility of all of us to create the appropriate conditions for them to grow up in an environment of safety, creativity and equal opportunities. Through such actions, social cohesion, participation and the active presence of young families in our local society are strengthened."
For his part, the Deputy Mayor of Sotiras, Mr. Antonis Koumis, expressed his satisfaction with the large participation of the public and thanked all the organizations, volunteers and collaborators who contributed to the successful organization of the event.
"The public's response confirms that the Children's Festival has been established as an important institution for Sotira. Our goal is to continue to offer activities that promote children's creativity, cooperation and entertainment, while strengthening the participation and cohesion of the local community."
The Municipality of Ayia Napa and the Sotira Municipal District express their warm thanks to all participants, co-organizers, volunteers and sponsors and the Municipality staff for their contribution to the success of the event.
