Municipality of Sotira: Removes illegal plates of candidate candidates

On the basis of the agreement, the placement of banners and billboards by candidates in the Municipality of Sotira is allowed.

A written announcement of the Municipality of Sotira states that candidates for the Parliamentary Elections of May 30, 2021 place billboards (banners / posters) outside the space proposed by the Municipality of Sotira, in specially designed, that is, signs. On the subject, it is noted, there is an agreement between the Union of Municipalities of Cyprus and the Associations / Parties that was concluded for the pre-election campaign of 13 June 2004, which has since been applied to all election campaigns and for which a special circular was sent by the President of the Union of Municipalities of Cyprus (15/4/2021).

It is added that "as provided by the agreement and the policy of the Municipality of Sotiras, for each combination of candidates posters or other material can be placed only on the signs prepared by the Municipality in central areas (signs) (Grigori Afxentiou, Famagusta, Makariou streets C`, Agias Theklas-roundabout, Eleftherias square and junction of Agios Anastasios and Agias Theklas streets) ».

It is noted that “the hanging of banners is prohibited except for the above-mentioned points, while it is not allowed on the roofs / roofs of buildings, the placement of any pre-election construction or material. We call on the candidates who may not comply with the agreement that their combinations have concluded with the Union of Municipalities, to proceed with the removal of any illegal structures within the municipal boundaries of the Municipality of Sotira "otherwise the Municipality will proceed with their removal without further notice.
