A special experiential workshop for children entitled "A journey into the world of emotions" will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the Sotiras Municipal Library, Ayia Napa Municipality.
Joy, sadness, love, anger, fear, hate, shame, excitement, surprise and jealousy are some of the emotions that children experience every day while playing and exploring the world around them. Through a two-hour interactive program full of knowledge, fun, singing, theater and creative expression, children will have the opportunity to recognize, explore, reveal, express and understand their emotions in an experiential and enjoyable way. The goal of the workshop is to provide a positive learning experience, where children will come into contact with their inner world through a safe and supportive environment.
During the program, children will learn to recognize and name their emotions, express them freely and understand that each person can experience the same situation differently. They will connect the emotion with the source that causes it, adopt more optimistic ways of interpreting events and cultivate the ability to listen carefully to others when they talk about what they feel. At the same time, they will realize that there are many different ways to react to each emotion and will develop healthy ways of managing both their positive and negative emotions. All of this is achieved through interactive activities, theatrical exercises, puppetry, visual creations and constructions that enhance emotional intelligence, self-awareness and communication skills.
The workshop is led by Irene Kameno Mitsidou, a Family Behavioral Development Specialist, with a degree in Behavioral Sciences in the state of Florida, USA, and a specialization in Neuro-Linguistic Programming at the NLP Academy in Brighton, England. She has been trained in the development of Emotional Intelligence in children and adolescents and is a certified parent and child trainer in Thomas Gordon's program entitled "Positive Parenting". Since 2000, she has created the LEARN Skills Development programs that are active in the prevention and treatment of emotional health issues, while in 2022 she created the "Yes I Can!" Positive Parenting Guide. She collaborates with schools, municipalities and organized groups, presenting lectures, workshops and seminars on issues of behavior, self-awareness and interpersonal relationships, and is the mother of three children, Charalambos, Marita and Gabriella.
The workshop in Sotira promises two hours full of inspiration, creativity and meaningful contact with the world of emotions, offering children valuable life skills.
