The Book Club of the Sotiras Municipal Library of the Municipality of Ayia Napa invites young book lovers to a special children's event dedicated to the book "A Man Made of Metal" by the author Nikos Antoniou, illustrated by Vasilis Grivas.
The event will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sotira Municipal Library – Sotira Social Welfare Center and is aimed at children aged 5 to 12, with free admission.
The book tells the story of Marcos, a boy who has discovered a magical way to travel at night: his school bag transforms into a flying vehicle and takes him on unexpected adventures. On one of these trips, Marcos visits a small planet where he meets two strange metallic creatures, Sen and Epi.
The three friends head to the city to complete a special mission from Sen. But when Marcos learns what this mission is, he is deeply troubled. Sen believes he is human, because – like Marcos – he has two arms, two legs and two eyes. But is it the outward appearance that defines what it means to be human?
Through a moving and subversive narrative, the book highlights a timeless and essential message: real people are not defined by their appearance, but by their choices, values, behaviors and actions.
The action is part of the initiatives of the Philanagnosias Club to cultivate a love of books and children's creative contact with literature, through stories that inspire the imagination and strengthen their thinking and values.
The Sotiras Municipal Library invites all children to travel with Markos to a world of fantasy, adventure and important messages about what it means to be truly human.
