Father, how did you decide to become a priest?
I made the decision to become a priest very early and specifically when I was six years old. Remember that while they were students at school, the teachers allowed them to leave the school and come to church to help the village priest. They recognized His love and knew that this was where I belonged. I became a priest in 1954, when I was 22 years old. They were still quite small about it and when I wanted to be ordained there were reactions. They said they were small and that I might regret it when I grew up.
