With exceptional success and the presence of hundreds of residents and visitors, the 13th Traditional Festival of the Sotira Municipal District took place on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
The courtyard of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior was filled with music, dance, traditional arts and authentic flavors. Young and old alike learned about traditional professions, participated in creative workshops and experienced a special evening dedicated to our cultural heritage.
The artistic program culminated with the musical performance "Cyprus - Aegean" by the renowned Naxos violinist Nikos Hatzopoulos, the participation of Michalis and Dimitra Hatzimichael and the on-stage collaboration of distinguished Cypriot violinists.
The event was honored with the presence of the President of the House of Representatives, Ms. Annita Dimitriou, and the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Alexis Vafeadis, under whose auspices the Festival was held.
The Municipality of Ayia Napa continues to invest in highlighting the distinct identity of each Municipal District and in preserving our intangible cultural heritage, strengthening the ties of younger generations with the roots and traditions of our place.
Crucial to the success of the event was the practical and long-term support of the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, in good cooperation with the Deputy Mayor of the Sotiras Municipal District, Mr. Antonis Koumis.
Warm thanks are extended by the Municipality to all the volunteers who contributed substantially to the excellent organization of the 13th Traditional Festival, as well as to the Sotira Church and the Sotira Catechetical Synagogues for their valuable support and excellent cooperation.
Sincere thanks are also extended to the organized ensembles of the Sotira Municipal District, the Sotira Municipal Dance Club, the Sotira Municipal Choir and the Sotira Youth Center for their long-standing contribution and active participation in the success of the event.
