The impressive new Monument will be presented to the public, at the point where the heroic figure of Christodoula left her last breath.

The Municipality of Sotira again hosts the Pancyprian March of Christodoulas, which will start at 10:30 in the morning from the City Hall of Deryneia and will end at the newly built Monument of Christodoulas in Sotira, where he passed away, stricken by the incurable disease, refugee from Famagusta, victim of Attila and cancer.

This year, for the first time, the impressive new Monument will be presented to the public, at the point where the heroic figure of Christodoula left her last breath. The Municipality of Sotiras hopes that this will be a reference point for the region and will give due honors to the woman-symbol Christodoula but also to the real fighters of life, men and women, who have been struck by the incurable disease and are fighting daily.

The event is under the auspices of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Mr. Giannis Karousou, who will address the hikers. At the end point of the March (Christodoulas Monument to the Savior) a prayer will be recited by the Metropolitan of Constantia-Famagusta Mr. Vassilios and a wreath-laying ceremony will follow.

After the end of the event, those who wish will be able to return to the polling station (Deryneia) by bus.

The Christodoulas March is the largest awareness campaign of the Cypriot society on issues related to cancer.

This year also marks the resumption of the Christodoula March in its original form, since the last two years, due to the pandemic of COVID-19, the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association, symbolically carried out the March with its staff members, who despite the difficulties that arose from the pandemic, continued to offer uninterrupted Palliative Care services to thousands of patients with cancer experience.
