SOTIRA: They cut and combed hair for children with childhood cancer (PICTURES)

A message of solidarity and love was sent on Thursday 15/2 by young and old at the awareness event for World Childhood Cancer Day organized in Sotira.

The event took place at the social benefits center of the Municipality from 14:00 to 19:00 in the afternoon and was an initiative of the Sotiras Youth Center.

Young and old had the opportunity to comb, cut their hair and donate it to the young children suffering from cancer. Among those who had their hair done were Mayor Sotiras Giorgos Takkas and Deputy Mayor Antonis Koumis.

Professional hairdressers volunteered to cut the hair of girls who wished to donate it to be used as wigs for children with cancer.

In particular, four girls, Kyriaki, Adamantini, Kakia, Kleoniki and also a man, Christos, cut their hair and declared happy that through this act they could make happy children with cancer who have no hair.

In her statements to FamagustaNews, the president of the Sotiras Youth Center, Christina Pieri, said that "several young men and women came to the event to have their hair cut and combed, while she described today's event as "very important and moving".

At the event, contributions from the public were also accepted to support the Little Heroes Foundation, while those who cut their hair received an honorary diploma.
