With the lighting of the wood ovens and the baking of the flavonos, the message is given that Easter has arrived. True to the traditions, manners and customs of the day, the housewives of Cyprus began the preparations for the great day of the Resurrection from a very early age. Good Thursday and the ovens are on fire. The flauna, the protagonist of the Easter table has its honor in Sotira of El. Famagusta Province and of course it could not be missing from any Cypriot table.

Specifically, early in the morning, the yard of Mrs. Nina Pieris, was filled with fragrant smells but also with groomsmen and neighbors who hurried to bake once and twice and three times in the wood oven!

Sigma's camera was found in Sotira, Famagusta Province, where he recorded step by step the Friday of the flauna and the painting of the eggs. A tradition of years that Mrs. Nina together with her best men and neighbors honor unceasingly.

They gather from 3 in the morning while they have the cheese and the dough ready to keep the tradition alive. The long process of preparing the favorite lilac dish is completed by baking them in the oven. 20 minutes for baking, 20 minutes for baking and the traditional flauns are ready to eat.

Traditional is also the painting of eggs in Sotira where with roots Mrs. Nina reddened many dozen eggs!

Easter customs may have faded over time but in Sotira, they still manage to retain radiance from their old glory.
