On Thursday, November 3, 2022, the Band of the Catechetical Synagogues Sotiras "Bearers of Christ" and the Sotiras Commandos Reserve Club, will carry out a torchlight procession from Sotiras Square to the chapel of Agios Nikandros.
The event takes place within the framework of the annual commemoration of the EOKA fighters. 1955 – 59, which operated in the region of the same name during the period of the Struggle.
Specifically, at 4.00:1955 p.m., the Band and Reserve Commandos will receive a flame from the E.O.K.A. Museum. 59 – XNUMX, and will carry it, in procession, up to the height of the Sotiras roundabout.
Afterwards, the flame will be picked up by Reserve Commando runners, who will take it to the chapel of Agios Nikandros, where the vesper will follow on the feast of the Saint.
Archimandrite Georgios Ioannou, the founder of the Catechetics Sotiras, in 1954 and Fighter of the EOKA, will participate in the event.
