The inauguration of the Sports Activities and Healthy Activities Area will take place on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at 15:00 PM, in the Sotira Municipal District, which is located on Archbishop Makarios III Avenue, next to the Sotira Social Services Center.
The inauguration will be held by the Honorable Minister of the Interior, Mr. Konstantinos Ioannou, while it will be preceded by a blessing by the Primate of the Holy Metropolis of Constantia - Famagusta, Archimandrite Mr. Augustinos Karas.
The project is being implemented within the framework of the Cohesion Policy Programme "THALEIA 2021-2027", with co-financing from the European Union. This is an important project for the local community, which substantially contributes to the upgrading of the services provided and the improvement of the quality of life of the residents.
The project concerns the creation of a modern and functional outdoor space, dedicated mainly to the youth of the area. It is located at a key point of the Municipal District and is directly connected to important social and educational infrastructures, such as the building of the Catechetical Synaxons, the 1st Sotiras Primary School and the Social Services Center.
The new space has been designed to be friendly and accessible to all age groups, offering modern sports facilities, play, relaxation and creative spaces, as well as extensive green spaces. It constitutes a modern core of sports, recreation and social gathering for residents and visitors.
Mayor Mr. Christos Zannetou stated in his statement that "the Municipality of Ayia Napa continues to consistently implement projects that improve the daily lives of citizens and enhance the quality of life in all Municipal Districts, with the aim of a modern, humane and sustainable Municipality."
He also emphasized that "with cooperation, vision and love for our place, we are working for a strong, pioneering and resilient Municipality, which relies on its residents and visitors."
During the event, free activities for children, photo opportunities with Santa Claus, the presence of mascots, and face painting will be offered.
