Michalis Michael, 33, was one of the protagonists of his team, Onisilos Sotira, who on that tragic day was playing against APEP, at the community stadium of Sotira. However, a match that ended in tragedy and dressed the football world of Cyprus in black.
The home player, after an injury he suffered when he hit with the goalkeeper of the opposing team, lost consciousness and collapsed on the ground, as a result of which the match was stopped in the 29th minute.
Immediately, the referee of the game, Michalis Karaiskakis, called the doctor of the stadium, who tried to bring back the 33-year-old football player, but to no avail.
An ambulance was called to the stadium, which transported Michael to the hospital of Paralimni, where unfortunately the doctors on duty found him dead. As it turned out, the unfortunate football player suffered a heart attack.

A year before the tragic incident, between the team of Sotira and Digenis Morfos, the footballer faced a similar incident, while the tragic irony is the fact that Michael's father also died after a heart attack.
Michael died at the age of 33, leaving behind a wife and a minor daughter.
Sotira's team declared three days of mourning, while the funeral of the former football player was held at the expense of the club.
The unfortunate Michalis Michael also wore the Anorthosis jersey before he died.
The Great Lady, in memory of the former football player, faced Onisilos Sotiraras on September 7, after Michalis Michael played in both teams.
