The Sotiras Municipal Library of the Municipality of Ayia Napa is organizing on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. a special experiential storytelling workshop for children, dedicated to the occupied city of Famagusta, on the occasion of the children's book by author Emilia Aristidou "The City with the Golden Beach! Famagusta".

The goal of the workshop is for children to learn about the history, culture and memories of Famagusta through an interactive and experiential experience, conveying the timeless message: "I Know - I Do Not Forget - I Claim".

Through the storytelling of the fairy tale, the young participants will mentally travel to the beautiful city with the golden sand, will get to know important monuments, cultural aspects and historical elements of Famagusta, while at the same time they will participate in creative and educational activities.

The book tells the story of grandfather Kostas and grandmother of little Konstantinos, who were forced to leave Famagusta and emigrate to Australia. Fifty-one years later, they return to Cyprus with their grandson, on a moving journey full of memories, love and nostalgia for their homeland.

The workshop will also be attended by the writer Emilia Aristidou, who will take young and old on a journey through the world of Famagusta through a unique narrative full of emotion, history and hope.

The workshop is aimed at children aged 5 to 10 and admission is free to the public.
