The Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, and the Deputy Mayor of the Sotira Municipality, Mr. Antonis Koumis, emphasized the Local Authority's continuous support for the elderly and ensuring the position they deserve in society at an event on the theme "The elderly have a right, a position and a voice!"
In an open discussion that took place recently at the Social Benefits Center in the Sotira Municipal District, sociologist, consultant psychotherapist Maro Kypri, who works on issues of improving the quality of life at a personal and community level, developed the topic "The elderly have a right, a place and a voice!".
The event was attended and honored with their presence by the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, and the Deputy Mayor of the Sotira Municipality, Antonis Koumis, who initially emphasized that the elderly are a necessary, sensitive and respectable group of our fellow citizens who deserve respect and recognition.
They also emphasized that it is very important that older people become and remain active and productive in the local community and that they are not simply considered recipients of social welfare or hospitality, but active citizens with rights, knowledge and a rich life, who must be valued and respected.
They also assured that the continued support of the Municipality of Ayia Napa for the elderly is one of the main pillars of the social fabric and that they will continue to continuously develop actions and initiatives that have as their ultimate goal the improvement of the quality of life of the elderly of all Municipal Districts in a safe and healthy environment, while ensuring that people who have spent a lifetime of contribution and creation have the place they deserve in society.
