The Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios paid a visit to the Municipality of Sotiras on Friday, October 2, 2020.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism was guided to the coastal front by Mayor Sotiras and then had a meeting at the City Hall of Sotiras with the Mayor and the plenary session of the Municipal Council.

In his statements after the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Tourism thanked Mayor Sotiras for the hospitality and the tour of the beaches of the region, while emphasizing that Sotira has a tourist future and the State Department will show its support in practice. According to Mr. Perdios, various incentive plans have been granted recently, while the purpose is, especially in the province of Famagusta, to upgrade the beaches in particular, an issue for which he had a meeting with the Mayors of Paralimni and Ayia Napa.

As he mentioned, the Ministry of Tourism stands next to the local authorities of the region and regarding the Municipality of Sotiras, he stressed that the State Ministry believes in the future of Sotira, while he stated that very important projects for the future of the region are being developed near the Municipality.

In his turn, the Mayor of Sotiras, Georgios Takkas, thanked the Deputy Minister of Tourism for his first visit to the Municipality of Sotiras. This fact, he said, gives the message that the Municipality of Sotiras is now included in the coastal tourist Municipalities. This, he said, is the goal of the Municipality for the last eight years and for this there is hope with the existing Plans to upgrade the services for the citizens who visit the coastal area of ​​Sotira and to create a better offered product.
