Serious traffic accident A road collision occurred shortly before 13:00 in Xylofagou in which a 77-year-old man from Xylofagou was injured.
Specifically, around 12:50, a 22-year-old man from Avgorou was driving his vehicle on the old Xylofago-Agia Napa road, heading towards the highway.
At some point on the road under circumstances under investigation he attempted to turn right in line with his course to enter the freeway at the height of the flyover and head towards Ayia Napa.
At the time he was trying to turn right, he stopped the path of a moped that was driving from the opposite direction, a 77-year-old man from Xylofagou.
From the collision, the 77-year-old man was initially thrown onto the front windshield of the vehicle and then ended up on the asphalt.
The 77-year-old was taken by ambulance to the General Hospital of Famagusta in Paralimni and from tests he underwent at the TAEP it was found that he has open fractures in his right tibia and left knee.
He is expected to be admitted to surgery and his condition is described as serious.
At the age of 22, an alcohol test was carried out with a zero reading. The 77-year-old was wearing a protective helmet at the time of the collision.
