The damage is really great and we are here to send a message of support and help to our farmers ".

Watch videos with the statements of the parties:

Mr. Neophytou addressed “an appeal to the State and the Minister to deal with the damages as soon as possible. "Farmers can not wait for months and years for the compensation, it would be good to give a significant amount in a lump sum until the damage is recorded by the competent Agricultural Insurance Organization".

He added that "once again the most vulnerable sector, the agricultural sector was affected by the weather and this is where the State needs to stand by farmers."

As a Democratic Alarm, Averof Neophytou continued "we will be by their side because they really need it".

AKEL Famagusta MP Nikos Kettiros stated that AKEL was in the affected areas last night and expressed "satisfaction with the fact that we preserved the role of OGA and let it be sold out as sought by the previous Minister. "Compensation will be given as provided to all those who have suffered damage and we hope this will happen as soon as possible so that people can do their crops again in November and not fall into an unfavorable position."

He added that "we will monitor the developments and the commitments undertaken by the Minister of Agriculture, monitoring the whole situation".

Answering a relevant question, Mr. Kettiros said that AKEL had sought "to make this reform in the field of agricultural insurance", described as "unacceptable" the bill for OGA that the former Minister of Agriculture tried to get in Parliament and noted that " some changes were made in the new bill based on our suggestions and we will now see how it is implemented in practice ".

The Famagusta MP of DIKO, Zacharias Koulias, stated that DIKO “will vote on all the measures and legislation that the government will bring to help our farmers. The catastrophe in our area, as we have seen, is total, while for the first time such a biblical catastrophe took place ”with the hail being so large.

He added that when the courgette, which has great endurance and capacity, suffered this catastrophe, everyone realizes the catastrophe suffered by potatoes and other sensitive products such as strawberries and vegetables.

At the same time, he expressed the belief that "the government's reaction will be immediate" to the compensations to the farmers, his satisfaction for the visit of the Minister of Agriculture, who "I hope that what he said to do will be done. As DIKO we will support with all our forces our rural world "concluded Mr. Koulias.
