Thursday today and I was waiting between 08.30 - 09.00, the phone call of Pampos Vassilas to talk about the issues of the day as we did in recent years…

Fanitsa, good morning .. I was late to call you because today is Thursday, they left us the water and I woke up very early in the morning to water the trees in my field.

Until his favorite trees were watered, we talked about the news, the issues we had for the day and discussed, especially the last two years, the coronavirus and everything we heard from the world about the pandemic.

We had great discussions every day from the first day he entered the Hospital, first in Paralimni and then in Nicosia.

I still hear in my ears his great satisfaction for the fact that on Monday, December 27, he would finally have the surgery, we made plans after his recovery and at 7 in the morning I sent him a message of GOOD LUCK.

But to my surprise shortly after 11.00 on Monday morning, he called me and to my surprise I heard him tell me that he would not have the operation because…. there was no bed in the ICU of Nicosia Hospital to put him after the surgery.

The frustration in his voice is intense and his psychology in the Tartars… how can one do this thing to a man who suffered for so long in Paralimni Hospital and then in Nicosia, who knew how difficult things were with his health ??? ?

Finally, after the intervention of the General Director of the Ministry of Health, Christina Giannaki, he was transferred to American Heart and when he called me to tell me, he was literally flying in the sky ... his mustache was laughing…

Upon entering the private hospital, he sent me photos from his room and we talked 2-3 times to express his satisfaction for his transfer there, but also his thanks to Mrs. Giannaki.

In the evening of the same day he called me again and we talked about the next big day of the operation, he told me about his fears, about what he would do when he would leave the Hospital and we even arranged to meet for coffee….

Unfortunately, this was also the last time we talked together and I heard his voice… without either of them knowing that in the end he would not succeed…
