The feast of the Holy Great Martyr Barbara was celebrated with splendor this year at the Metropolis of Constantia.
Saint Barbara, considered the patron saint of artillery, is particularly honored and venerated in our homeland and province. In our metropolis, 5 holy churches in Paralimni, Ayia Napa, Sotira Achna and Frenaros are honored in the name of the Great Martyr and Heroic Barbara.
The epicenter of the celebrations was the homonymous Holy Church in Paralimni, where on the day of the feast a Solemn Priestly Liturgy was celebrated by the head of the church, Archimandrite Augustine Kkaras, protosyngellus of the Holy Metropolis.
This was followed by the procession of the holy icon around the temple.
