What Ionas Nikolaou says about vineyards and activists (video)

The issue of grapevines and the action of foreign activists was mentioned yesterday by the Minister of Justice, Ionas Nikolaou.

In his statements to journalists, in the context of his visit to the Famagusta Police Department, Mr. Nikolaou stated that instructions were given to ADE Famagusta on an issue that "concerns the region in terms of the activities of activists in relation to the prosecution of poaching and in particular the vines. "What we all have to do is, in a place where we have laws that apply and bind the citizens of this place, these laws also bind those who visit this place."

Therefore, he continued, "activists do not enjoy any immunity when they are in Cyprus and commit criminal offenses. They should be treated in exactly the same way as any citizen who either attempts to monitor their privacy, or attempts to enter anyone's yard, enclosure or orchard, this is a criminal offense and we must we are exploring it. As well as surveillance either with cameras or otherwise how, the way everyone moves ".

In Cyprus, the Minister noted, "no cameras have been placed on the streets because we believe that privacy is being violated. "Any foreigner who comes can apply his own rules and that is why instructions were given today by both the Chief of Police and me, in the ADE, to take the necessary measures and any complaints that are made, should be investigated."

At the same time, he reiterated that "in order to investigate all this, complaints must be made, it is not enough for everyone to say and regret. "The police have explicit instructions to investigate them and in any case where such crimes are committed, they will be investigated."
