Metropolitan Basilios addressed his thanks to the clergy of the Metropolitan Region of Constantia - Famagusta for their support during the Archbishop's elections last Sunday.
As is his message:
"I express my warm thanks to those and those who contributed to my effort to claim the position of Archbishop of Cyprus.
It is with emotion that I have received your heartfelt support, appreciation and love and I wish to thank each and every one of you individually.
I thank the representatives of the state authorities, the local authorities of the free and occupied Famagusta, organized bodies, ensembles, associations, teachers, academics, business and sports bodies, all over Cyprus, and the youth groups of the free province of Famagusta, as well as every person who expressed publicly his support towards me.
I especially thank the parishes and their collaborators, the church committees, the Christian associations and the clergy, mainly of the metropolitan region of Constantia and Famagusta, for the long-term support to the work of the Metropolis and their enthusiastic effort in the last period.
I also owe thanks to all the volunteers of the support group and to those who contributed to the smooth conduct of the election process on December 18.
All indicated, during the march to the elections and on the day of the elections, exemplary morals and ecclesiastical spirit.
Finally, I thank every voter and especially the young people throughout Cyprus, especially in our metropolitan region, who came to the polls and practically showed their appreciation for me and their trust in my positions.
