Award of Savvas Hatzigiorkis & Sons Ltd by the Pancyprian Volunteer Coordinating Council (PICTURES)

After its first award in 2016, Savvas Hatzigiorkis & Sons Ltd (Hatzigiorkis Mills) was awarded for its voluntary contribution to the Cypriot society, for the second time, in December 2018, by the Pancyprian Voluntary Coordinating Council (PSSE 4), in the framework ofth Corporate Social Responsibility Competition. The company accepted both awards with feelings of gratitude towards its staff, customers and associates for their contribution to its charitable work and with a strong sense of responsibility for supporting the work of the PACE and the needs of Cypriot society.

Savvas Hatzigiorkis & Sons Ltd has developed since 2012, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program with pillars of Society, Market, Human Resources and Environment to support its targeted social and charitable work, which has already existed since 1981. The CSR Program, in addition to financial and in-kind contributions to organized groups, charities and schools, includes seminars and training programs for professional associations and partners, annual blood donation, co-organization of events with other organizations and the operation of the Hatzigiorkis Mills Museum, located on the company's premises.

Hatzigiorkis Mills Museum

The Hatzigiorkis Mills Museum, which operates within the company's facilities, interactively presents the evolution of the production and grinding of wheat and the preparation of bread from antiquity until today, in Cyprus. It was founded on the initiative of Mr. Costas Kosis (co-founder of the company), having a strong leaven the legacy of machines and tools of the Hatzigiorkis family, which he kept in operation.

The Museum, since 2016 in its current form, has hosted dozens of free educational and public benefit institutions and hundreds of winter tourism tourists, organized two educational programs for students and has received a total of more than 10.000 visitors, helping to promote and highlight the cultural tourism of Famagusta.
