The President and members of the Board of Directors of the Free Acheritou Association extend an open call to all Acherites for mass participation in the ANTI-OCCUPANCY EVENT on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 7.30 pm to express our determination that we do not compromise with the occupation and keep the flame unextinguished for the return to our beloved Acheritou and the reunification of our homeland.
The program for the event is as follows:
ANTI-OCCUPANCY EVENT
SATURDAY EVENING 30/8/2025 AT 7:30 p.m. after vespers.
1. There will be a Procession through the main streets of the Community accompanied by the mournful sounds of our Catechism band.
Starting point: Church of Agios Dimitrios.
End: Heroes' Monument.
2. A Prayer for Peace and Freedom of Cyprus will follow.
at the Heroes' Monument by the Priest of our community, Father Christodoulos.
3. A program of Anti-Occupation Songs will follow, performed by members of the Deryneia District Municipal Choir and the singer with Acherian roots, Niki Antoniou - Karaiskou.
They will recite poems written about Acheritou by our folk poets Tasos Evagorou and Simos Symeou.
End of the Evening Anti-Occupation event.
The anti-occupation event is under the auspices of the Honorable Mayor of Paralimni, Deryneia, Mr. George Nikolettos.
